How does a wood crusher work

A wood crushing machine consists of a base frame, motor, disc rotor, blades, hammers, screen, feeding chute, and discharge chute. The motor drives the disc rotor directly through the V-belt. The disc rotor has cutting blades and a fan blade. When wood feeds from the feeding chute, it contacts the rotating disc rotor, and the cutting blades cut it into pieces. The wood pieces go inside the crushing chamber. The high-speed rotating hammers beat the wood pieces repeatedly. If the wood pieces are smaller than the screen holes, they pass through and are discharged from the discharge chute. The screen hole size determines the sawdust size produced by the wood crusher. The feeding chute size decides the diameter of wood that can feed into the wood crusher.

Wood crushers can handle wood with moisture <35-40%. If the wood moisture is too high, the hammer beats it into sawdust while it is very wet; it sticks to the screen like paste and blocks the holes, which may reduce the wood crusher's efficiency. We suggest that when you choose a wood crusher, if your wood moisture is >40%, you should first turn the wood into wood chips with a wood chipper, then dry the chips, and finally use a wood crusher to make sawdust from the chips.
