The Horizontal Ring Die Pellet Mill is also called a pellet machine, pellet maker, pellet press, pelletizer, pellet making machine, and pellet mill. It is the main machine in the wood pellet line. It is retrofitted to products according to the characteristics of biomass fuel particles based on our feed pellet machine; it is mainly used for pressing flammable biomass materials such as sawdust from softwood and hardwood, wood chips, wood shavings, straw, stalk, grass, rice husk, bagasse, peanut shell, sunflower husk, coconut shell, EFB, and any other biomass material into pellets, so it is the most popular and most versatile pellet mill among the three kinds of pellet machines.

Horizontal ring die pellet mill structure. The ring die pellet mill consists of a base frame, motor, coupling, gearbox, main shaft, hollow shaft, rollers, ring die, force-feeding system, feeding system, and control system.

1. The feeding system is the feeder auger on top of the pellet mill; it adopts frequency control to change the feeding speed by VFD, thus avoiding material blockages in the pellet mill and overload. Raw material flows from the feeder auger by gravity to the force feeder.

2. The force feeder pushes the raw material to the pelletizing room. The force feeder is an important part of the horizontal ring die pellet mill. However, particle size is small, biomass has low bulk density, and it is mobile, so the force feeder helps move the material into the die chamber.

3. In a pelletizing room of the horizontal ring die pellet mill, there is a feeder scraper, rollers, ring die, main shaft, and hollow shaft. The rollers are fixed to the main shaft, which remains stable during operation, while the roller shell rotates.s The ring die is fixed to the hollow shaft with a hoop and runs during machine operation. After the material reaches the pelletizing room, the rollers and scraper press it into the ring die holes; the material is then pressed out to form pellets. The hole diameter and effective extrusion length determine the final pellet size; the ratio of the hole's effective extrusion length to its diameter is the compression ratio, an important ring die parameter that affects final pellet quality. Depending on the characteristics of different raw materials, we can set a specific compression ratio for each material, so changing the ring die makes the pellet mill suitable for different raw materials.

4. The main shaft is inside the hollow shaft; the backside of the main shaft goes to the safety base. If a block is in the machine but it does not stop in time, the safety pin will break and signal the control panel to stop the machine. In front of the main shaft, there are the rollers.

In front of the hollow shaft is a ring die; it runs while the machine is operating.

The rollers and ring die make up the pelletizing chamber; material is fed into the chamber, and the rollers press it into the ring die to form pellets.

The ring die, rollers, main shaft, and hollow shaft are installed horizontally in the pelletizing room; that is why it is called a horizontal pellet mill.
