1.Introduction of wood pelletizer machine

A vertical ring dies wood pelletizer machine is a kind of ring die pelletizer machine designed to make biomass fuel pellets because the pelleting chamber of this machine is installed in a vertical structure, so we call it a vertical ring die wood pelletizer.

Raw material input from top of pelletizer machine, by gravity raw material, fall into pelleting chamber directly, inside the pelleting chamber, the rollers are rotating together with the main shaft, while the ring die is stable. The rotating rollers and the centrifugal force from running rollers push raw material go to through holes on the ring die, at the meantime, the rollers press raw material to go through holes on the ring die and compress them into pellets.

Raw material input in this pelletizer machine should match the features: size 3-5mm and moisture <15%.

If the size >5mm, usually use a hammer mill to crushing them to 3-5mm, sometimes a wood chipper is needed if the raw material is too large like wood logs and timber.

If moisture higher than 15% usually use a rotary drum dryer to drying them after crushing the size to 3-5mm.

4. Operation and Maintenance for wood pelletizer machine

4.1 Wood pelletizer machine installation

Install the pelletizer need to consider the whole working flowchart, on-site workshop situation and decide the place to install it

If only one set pelletizer, need to consider the distance to the wall, distance to electricity supply, distance to raw material supply, choose a place near to raw material supply easy to feed raw material to pelletizer and near to electricity supply to save cables. It is necessary to consider the distance between the wall and the pelletizer to facilitate the forklift to move the pelletizer and change accessories.

The foundation of the wood pelletizer machine can refer to the dimension on the sample drawing, and make sure the foundation is a concrete floor that can bear a weight of about 8 tons.

Feeding of pelletizer, usually use belt conveyor or auger feed material to pelletizer from storage place

Dust collector of pelletizer include air fan, dust collect bag, and hopper, from pelletizing chamber, there is a dust/vapor exhaust hole, use pipe connect this hole to air fan

4.2 Wood pelletizer machine commissioning

After installation of pelletizer is commissioning, below is commissioning step and key point

Check each part is connect properly, especially inside the pelletizing chamber the rollers are fixed well.

Check the greasing device can work properly and add grease to the rollers

Check the gap between roller and ring die is adjusted to 0.5-3mm

Check to see if it is foreign in the conveyor and pelletizing chamber

Start the main motor to see the rotating direction, pay attention to the amps and sound from the machine

Start the oil pump, cutter motor, automatic lubricator motor, when every part works properly turn on the conveyor motor to feed material into the pelletizer.

Used frequency changer controls the feeding speed, at the beginning, the speed should be slow and increase little by little until the machine's normal working increases the feeding speed to normal speed.

When the machine running for 20-30 minutes, stop the machine to check each connection part to see if there is a loose one, check the greasing pipe and gearbox oil pipe to see if there is oil leakage.

During commissioning if find strange situation such as abnormal noise, high amps, or other problems, the operator should stop the pelletizer and find out the problem to solve the problem.

When the pelletizer continuously running for one hour, the amps can reach 95% of related amps, supervisor should stay on-site to observe the motor amps and machine running status for 4-5 hours after commissioning.

4.3 Prepare work for stop the machine after one day of working

Every day before to stop work, continuously running the pelletizer until all the material in pelletizing chamber is used up (no pellets come out from pelletizer), feed raw material mixed with waste oil manually from feeding chute until there are pellets come out from each hole (observe the pellet quantity discharged from pelletizer), then stop the main motor, stop the oil recycling motor, greasing device motor, cutter motor, air fan motor after the rollers and main shaft stopped.

The purpose of add material mixed with oil to the pelletizer before stop work is to prevent the holes of the ring die got blocked by raw material. If leave normal material inside holes for more than 3-4 hours material will block the inside of the hole and difficult to drill out. If leave material will oil inside holes, next time start the machine new material come inside the oil material will be easily pressed out.

4.4 Wood pelletizer machine Lubrication and Maintenance

Gearbox lubrication: before operating the pelletizer machine remember to add high temperature resistant anti-wear hydraulic oil to the gearbox.

The first time after the pelletizer running 300 hours change the oil, from the second time each half-year change the oil.

But remember to check the oil level, if oil is lower than the level need to add oil to the gearbox.
