What raw materials are suitable for a wood sawdust pellet plant?

Pelletizing turns waste materials into solid fuel. The pellets are used for burning purposes. Wood pellets can be made from any agro-forestry waste: groundnut shell, sugarcane bagasse, caster shells/stalk, sawdust, coffee husk, paddy straw, sunflower stalk, cotton stalks, tobacco waste, mustard stalk, jute waste, bamboo dust, tea waste, wheat straw, palm husk, soybean husk, coir pitch barks/straws, rice husks, forestry wastes, wood chips, wood logs, and many other agro wastes.

This small wood pellet production line consists of a wood crusher or hammer mill to grind the raw material to 5 mm. Depending on your raw material, choose a suitable grinder, a flash dryer to reduce moisture to 12-15%, a screw conveyor to transfer the material to the pellet mill, and a flat die pellet mill to make pellets.

If your raw material is already sawdust, you don't need a wood crusher or hammer mill.

If your raw material moisture is below 15%, you don't need the dryer.

The wood crusher/Hammer mill grinds raw material to <5 mm. If your raw material is wood logs, tree branches, or bamboo, a wood crusher is a good choice because it can make sawdust directly from these materials. If your raw material is straw, coconut shell, peanut shell, corn cobs, corn, wheat stalks, wood chips, wood residues, waste wood, etc., a hammer mill is much better for grinding them. If you have different raw materials for pellets in different sizes, a double-inlet crusher machine is the best choice because it combines the functions of a wood crusher and a hammer mill.

2. Flash dryer

A Flash dryer, also called a pipe dryer, is a biomass drying machine suitable for drying small-sized biomass materials like sawdust and wood powder. In a 400-500kg/h small pellet line, a pipe dryer is economical because it is low-cost and takes up less space. The flash dryer can dry biomass from 30-35% to 112- 5% directly. If your raw material moisture is above 45%, choose a rotary drum dryer instead of a flash dryer.

3. Electric flat die pellet mill
