Sunflower is widely planted in many countries; after people harvest sunflowers and process the seeds for oil or consumption, a lot of sunflower waste remains, such as the stalk, husk, and shell.

Sunflower husk, shell, and stalk are good biomass materials for making pellets because they contain a lot of fiber and have a high heating value when burned.

Because sunflower stalk, husk, and shell have low bulk density, our vertical pellet mill has more advantages and higher efficiency in turning them into pellets. Sunflower seed shells are usually dry when people peel them, so the moisture content is suitable for pelletizing, and no extra drying equipment is needed. The size is also small enough to feed directly into a vertical pellet mill, so you don't need a crusher, since vertical pellet mills handle feeding material well.

For sunflower stalk and sunflower husk, because the size is bigger and sometimes the moisture is >15%, making pellets from sunflower stalk and sunflower husk needs a crusher machine to reduce the size to 5mm first, then use a drying machine to reduce the moisture to 12-15%, and finally feed them into a vertical pellet mill to produce pellets.

• Because sunflower shell, husk, and stalk are soft and have low bulk density, they can drop directly into the pelletizing chamber from the top, so vertical ring die pellet mills have an advantage in feeding raw material.
• When sunflower shell or husk is fed into the pelletizing chamber, the vertical pellet mill rollers run while the ring die remains stable; the centrifugal force generated by the rotating rollers makes it easier for the rollers to press the raw material into the ring die holes.
• Because of the advantages of this vertical structure and centrifugal force, sunflower shells can be fed directly into the vertical ring die pellet mill to make pellets, with no need to refine the size. Compared with other pellet mills that refine sunflower shells before pelletizing, our vertical ring die pellet mill reduces equipment investment, labor, and electricity costs.
• The ring die compression ratio is critical for pellet production; if it doesn't suit the raw material, you can't make high-quality pellets. We have experience making sunflower pellets; we know the best compression ratio to produce 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm diameter peanut shell pellets.
• Our sunflower husk pellet mill uses our self-developed gearbox. The gears are specially designed to handle the strength and pressure needed for pelletizing, so they're stronger and won't break under high-pressure pelletizing. Our gearbox lasts much longer than a vertical pellet mill with a commonly used industrial gearbox.
