EFB also called Palm Empty Fruit Bunch is a kind of biomass material to make fuel pellets, because EFB has high fiber content and high calorific value when burning it, so it is good raw material to make fuel pellets. The pellets can be used for home heating, fuel for boiler, pellet furnace, and power plants. Except for EFB, palm tree timber is also good raw material to make biomass fuel pellets.

Our EFB pellet making machine applied vertical ring die pellet making machine, because the bulk density of EFB is low, after grinding the EFB fiber it is soft with low mobility, vertical ring dies pellet making machine have more advantages on feeding raw material and make pellets from low bulk density raw material, so use vertical ring die pellet making machine to produce pellets from EFB have higher efficiency compared with other type pellet machine.

EFB is an empty fruit bunch from a palm tree, use it to make pellets need to some pre-processing step for it because EFB pellet making machines have requirement on the size and moisture of raw material. The best size to feed EFB into pellet machine is around 6mm size, so we need to refine the size of EFB first, usually, we use an EFB chipper or shredder to turn the EFB into the fiber, the fiber is 20-50mm length and 1-2mm thickness, then we use a hammer mill to refine the fiber to around 6mm length. The best moisture to make pellets is 15% but usually, the EFB moisture content is around 50%, so we use a rotary drum dryer to dry the EFB fiber from the EFB chipper. Thus the common procedure to make pellets from EFB is: first use EFB chipper turn EFB into the fiber, second use rotary drum dryer to dry the moisture of EFB fiber to 15%, third use hammer mill refines the size of EFB fiber to 6mm size, finally use EFB pellet making machine to make pellets have more advantages to make EFB pellets compared with other type pellets:

1. Because EFB fiber is soft with low bulk density when feed EFB into vertical ring die pellet making machine the material can drop into pelletizing chamber directly from the top, so vertical type pellet machine has advantage on feeding EFB to pellet mill, EFB can not block the pellet machine during feeding part.

2. When EFB feed in the pelletizing chamber, vertical type pellet machine is rollers running while ring die is stable, then there is the centrifugal force generated by the rotating rollers, with this centrifugal force rollers are easier to press EFB fiber into holes of ring die.

3. The compression ratio of the ring die is important to make pellets, if the compression ratio of the ring die is not suitable for raw material, it can not make good quality pellets. We have experience with EFB pelletizing, we know what is the best compression ratio to make 6mm, 8mm, and 10mm diameter EFB pellet

4. Our EFB pelletizer uses our self-developed gearbox, the gears are specially designed to make pellets according to the strength and pressure needed for pelletizing, so the gears inside the gearbox are stronger, during pelletizing the gears can not break because of high strength pressure. The lifetime of our gearbox is much more longer compared with another vertical pellet-making machine with the common sued industrial gearbox
