The water drop hammer mill uses a water drop-shaped grinding chamber to deliver more impact force and improve grinding efficiency. Particles pass through the sieve by centrifugal force and wind power. This is the most popular basic machine in the wood pellet line for processing raw material.

The water drop hammer mill is composed of an electric motor, coupling, bearing, rotor, hinge pin, hammers, sieve plate, and base frame. A feeding conveyor feeds raw material into the grinding chamber; sometimes, we also install a rotary feeder on top of the hammer mill to maintain a constant feeding speed. In the pellet line, we also install a magnet on the rotary feeder to remove iron. In the grinding chamber, high-speed rotating hammers beat the raw material, which bounces back off the sieve plate. The high-speed rotor ensures continuous beating and impact. The impact force of the hammers and the friction force from the sieve plate grind the raw material. When the raw material is smaller than the sieve holes, the blower draws it out. Usually, this hammer mill works with a blower, cyclone, airlock, and dust collector: the blower provides suction to move the final crushed material, the cyclone collects it, and the airlock and dust collector control dust at the cyclone outlet.
