Biomass pellet is made from wood logs, tree branches, wasted wood, peanut shell, sunflower husk, bagasse, rice husk, coconut shell, straw, stalk, agricultural waste., etc biomass material. Biomass pellets are a kind of clean fuel for home heating, furnace, boiler, and power plant.

There is three-step in a biomass pellet making machine line: Raw material pre-process step, pelletizing step, pellet cooling, and packing step.

The raw material pre-process step is to prepare for the raw material to make the moisture of raw material between 12% and 17%, reduce the size of raw material around 5mm.

Because usually the diameter of biomass pellets we produced is 6mm, 8mm and 10mm, so the raw material we feed into the pellet mill should smaller than the diameter of pellets, if not the raw material can not be pressed into holes on ring die. To pre-process the size of raw material generally use a shredder or chipper and hammer mill, the machines applied to take over the work are decided by features of raw material. For wood material commonly used the machine to reduce the size is wood chipper and hammer mill, for agricultural waste commonly applied machines to reduce size is shredder and hammer mill.

The moisture of raw material is an important factor to influence pelletizing, if the moisture is too high it can not be pressed into pellets, and if moisture is too low than 12% it is too much dry and the material will block inside the ring die. Suitable moisture can guarantee the hardness of pellets and surface uniformity of pellets. According to our experience to make high-quality pellets the moisture of raw material can not exceed 17% and can lot less than 12%.

The equipment to reduce moisture is a drying machine, in a biomass pellet making machine line we use a rotary drum dryer to reduce the moisture of raw materials.

After all raw materials are pre-processed uniformly in size and moisture, the next step is to press them into pellets by pellet mill.

For a 3t/h biomass pellet making machine line, we apply ring die type pellet mill because ring dies pellet mills have advantages to make good quality pellets to comply with EN and DIN plus A1 standard.

Ring die type pellet mill equipped with feeding auger and force feeder. The feeding auger is designed to get raw material for the pellet mill, the rotating speed auger is VFD controllable thus controlling feed speed to avoid overload. The force feeder help to push raw material into pelletizing chamber thus improving pelletizing efficiency.

Ring die pellet mill equipped with the electric panel, the electric panel can control start, stop the motor, and there is thermal overload protection unit, if the pellet mill is overload or block inside the pelletizing chamber, the thermal overload system will automatically stop the main motor of pellet mill.

Ring die pellet mill equipped safety seat, safety pine and limit switch, in case there block in the pelletizing chamber but the electric panel did not stop the main motor and machine continuously running, the safety pine will be broken and the limit switch will give a signal to the electric panel to stop pellet mill main motor, thus to protect the main shaft, hollow shaft, and bearings inside pellet mill.

The compression ratio of ring die is important for pellet mill to make high quality, different raw material have different bulk density, in order to make high-quality pellets there should be a suitable compression ratio match this raw material. We are full of experience in different kinds of raw material, so we can suggest a suitable compression ratio according to your raw material.

The pellets from the pellet mill are around 70 ℃ and 10% moisture content, if storage the pellets directly, due to temperature reduction and moisture reduction there will be cracks on the surface of pellets, thus influence the uniformity of pellets, hardness of the pellets, and moisture of pellets. So we put a counter flow pellet cooler in a 3t/h biomass pellet making machine line to cooling down the pellets.

After pellets are cooled and sieved by a screener we can store the pellets, we can provide a packing solution to pack the pellets in bags also have solution for bulk storage.
