1. Introduction of wood crusher

1.1 What is a wood crusher?

A wood hammer mill is a machine for crushing wood to powders the size of sawdust, which is widely used in wood pellet lines or charcoal production lines to prepare raw materials to make pellets or charcoal briquettes. This machine can crush wood chips, small wood pieces, wood residues., etc wood raw material or EFB fiber and other biomass material to 3-5mm size.

1.2 Which component does a sawdust-making machine have?

Wood hammer mill is made up of a base frame, motor, rotor, hammers, screen, and feeding chute. Inside the grinding, chamber is the rotor and sieve, on the rotor installed hammers, and the motor transmission rotor by coupling.

The rotor and hammers will rotate at high speed when starting the motor, raw material feeding on the cut on top of the hammer mill, the high-speed rotating hammers heat the wood material to pulverize them. Until the raw material is ground to a size smaller than holes on the sieve then they will be discharged from the machine.

The diameter of holes on the sieve decides the size of finished sawdust from this wood hammer mill, we can manufacture sieve to make 3-5mm, 5-6mm, or 7-8mm size sawdust.

Usually, to make 6mm diameter wood pellets or charcoal briquettes use 3-5mm sawdust, if make 8mm diameter wood pellets use 5-6mm sawdust, if make 10mm or 12mm wood pellets use 7-8mm sawdust

1.3 What is the size of raw material that can feed into this hammer mill?

The best size of raw material put into a wood hammer mill is <6cm, usually, people use this kind of machine to crush wood chips, small wood residues, EFB fiber., etc

If your raw material is wood logs, tree branches, or wasted wood, it is better to use a wood chipper to shred your raw material into wood chips and then use it to make sawdust

If your raw material is building templates, film plywood, waste pallets, or big-size wood plates, it is better to use a template shredder to reduce the size first, and then use a wood crusher to crush them.
