Five Misunderstandings of Modulating Pig Feed
May 08, 2021
Misunderstanding 1: Feed a lot of bean cakes or peanut cakes during the fattening phase.
Many pig farmers have an unscientific feeding concept, that is, feeding a large amount of bean cake or peanut cake during the fattening phase of the pigs. They think that feeding the pigs in this way can grow fast and the meat will be firm. In fact, this is wrong. In the fattening stage, the focus of pig growth is on fat, not muscle, so there is no need for a large amount of protein feed. If a large amount of protein feed is fed to the fattening stage, the pig must remove the nitrogenous part of the protein in the gastrointestinal tract, so that the other non-nitrogen parts can be converted into fat, but the denitrification consumes more energy. In addition, bean cake or peanut cake contains a large amount of unsaturated fatty acids. After more feeding, the fat of the pig can become soft and yellow, and the meat will not be firm at all, but the quality of the meat will be reduced. The market price of cake feed is higher than other feeds, and more use will increase the cost of feed, which is a waste in itself.
Misunderstanding 2: Use cooked feed to feed pigs.
The technology of feeding pigs with raw feed has long been popularized, but many rural pig farmers still adopt the mode of feeding pigs with cooked feed. They believe that pigs eat cooked foods to grow oil, but this is not the case. After the feed is cooked, almost all vitamins are destroyed, and the protein in the feed is aged and denatured. According to statistics, 20% of the nutrients in the feed are lost during the cooking process, and the nutrient loss in the green feed is even greater. If it is left in the pot for a long time during braising, nitrite poisoning will also occur during feeding, causing The pig died.
Misunderstanding 3: Dilute soup filled with big belly.
Some pig farmers feed pigs with water and feed, with a feed-water ratio of 1:8 to 10, which is even thinner. In addition, they also supply water to the pigs. This feeding method is very unfavorable for pig fattening. The disadvantages of feeding pigs with water feed are: it increases the energy required for water metabolism in pigs and increases the burden on the kidneys; it dilutes the concentration of digestive juice, which is not conducive to the secretion of digestive juice; it speeds up the speed of feed passing through the digestive tract, thereby reducing Digestibility of feed. In order to increase the feed intake of the pigs and allow the pigs to eat more and grow faster, it is generally recommended to feed thick porridge with a material-to-water ratio of 1:2, or raw wet mixture, with a material-to-water ratio of 1:1. In addition, adequate drinking water should be provided.
Misunderstanding 4: Swill feed pigs is the most economical.
There are still a few pig farmers who use swill to feed their pigs and establish long-term cooperative relationships with restaurants. After transporting the swill to your home, store it in the built pool for use. In fact, swill contains a variety of pathogenic microorganisms, which affect the growth and development of pigs, and some are even fatal. In addition, a large number of pathogenic microorganisms multiply when swill is stored and spread through flies, which can cause losses to farmers. Pig farmers must avoid feeding swill .
Misunderstanding 5: Randomly add antibiotics to the feed.
There are currently no effective vaccines to prevent certain diseases, especially some bacterial infectious diseases, which can be prevented with drugs. In order to control the occurrence of diseases and promote the growth of pigs, many farmers add antibiotics indiscriminately without clarifying the mechanism of action, posing a threat to food safety and human health. The majority of farmers should establish a safe production concept and add antibiotics in a targeted, appropriate amount and timely manner.
