what is efb?

Feb 08, 2025

Palm fiber is made from Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) of oil palm. EFB is generally considered a waste product after the processing and refining of a fresh fruit bunch (FFB) of palm. Palm fiber itself is a 100% natural product, harmless, degradable, and environmentally friendly.

Characteristics of Palm Fiber:
• Low cost
• Adequate supply
• No species change
• Low moisture content
• No carcinogens
• Non-toxic
• No traceable HCN compounds
• Degradable
• Environmentally friendly
• No health hazards
• Contains lignin moisture
• Can be compressed and combined to form a solid.

Introduction to Palm Pellets/Briquettes:

efb pellets
Palm Pellets/Briquettes are the waste product of palm fruit bunches; they are short palm fibers. After compression, they are squeezed into a 7 cm diameter cylindrical solid form, which can be used to replace firewood. This process does not use any adhesives, but the natural lignin components in the fiber are combined to form a solid. Burning palm pellets/briquettes is more efficient than burning wood. The moisture content is also less than 12%, while wood moisture can be as high as 65%. Palm briquettes can be used in industrial or residential boilers and kilns to generate steam, electricity, or heating purposes.
