What is the difference between globe valve, gate valve, butterfly valve and check valve?

What is the difference between globe valve, gate valve, butterfly valve and check valve? What are the characteristics?

Shut-off valve:

Features: Simpler structure than gate valve, convenient to manufacture and maintain, and adjustable flow. Pay attention to the direction, the flow is low in and high out.

Application: Suitable for hot water supply and high-pressure steam pipelines, with large resistance, not suitable for media with particles and high viscosity.

Gate valve:

Features: Use the gate lift to control the opening and closing of the valve, the flow direction of the fluid does not change when passing, so the water flow resistance is small and the tightness is poor.

Application: Not suitable for use on pipelines that need to be adjusted in size and frequently opened and closed. Widely used in cold and hot water pipeline systems; mainly used in some large diameter pipelines.

Check valve:

Features: Unidirectional, suitable for cleaning media, not suitable for media with solid particles and high viscosity.

Application: Lift check valve can only be used for horizontal pipes, vertical and horizontal pipes for swing check valve.

Butterfly valve:

Features: Simple structure and operation, fast opening and closing, and good fluid control characteristics.

Application: Suitable for installation on large diameter pipes.
